We are thrilled to share our first case report using Penumbra Inc.’s CAVT Flash16 system for treating acute pulmonary embolism, led by Dr. Abbas Chamsuddin.
Our patient, a 70-year-old man with hypertension and type 2 diabetes, faced a high risk of heart failure. He arrived with severe leg swelling, shortness of breath, and recent intracranial bleeding. CT angiography revealed a massive pulmonary embolism with near-total occlusion of the left main pulmonary artery and additional subsegmental emboli in the right lung.
This breakthrough demonstrates the incredible potential of advanced thrombectomy in tackling complex pulmonary embolism cases.
